In a really exciting Autumn/Winter season for the Xbox, we find a lot of racing games, coming or already released, with the Xbox Live! support, showing a driving system more or less arcade, and a gaming experience more and more thrilling. SimBin, a new sweden reality, was born with the purpose to bring on the Xbox one of the most ambitious projects regarding racing games, with GTR - The Ultimate Racing Game, a really realistic one at the 100%. This may mean a thougher approach to the game, expecially for gamers accustomed to traditional racing games, but the satisfaction achieved learning how to control in the best way our vehicle is on highest levels. Christian De Nisi: So, GTR has been recently announced on Xbox, together with the pc version. Outrun 2, Burnout 3, Juiced and Forza Motorsports are only few examples of the racing games GTR will find on the Xbox. In what does GTR differ from these titles? Why do you think people should buy it? Johan Roos: GTR is all about Get Real, which means that we are linking real life racing to gaming in a new way, first of all with stunning realism/sound/driving experience and second of all we are also aiming for competitions with links to real racing, we can´t describe those details yet ; ) CDN: Simbin has previously worked on some free mods for an Electronic Arts' racing game, Formula 1. Among them we may remember the great GT 2002; do you consider the brand new GTR as an evolution of these mods? What did you take from the past experiences? JR: This is something completely new, SimBin as a company was not even fromed when this mod was made, but several of our core group developers comes with a histroy as modders on GT 2002. CDN: What could you say about the core of the game, the simulation. Is GTR really the ultimate simulation game? In some other games the simulation aspect was limited to the tuning of the car. How does GTR combine realism and immediacy? JR: Yes, GTR is the closest thing you can get to the real thing for the moment, the links and bonds we have as a company to real life racing are so extending that we can retrieve data non used before. The CEO of SimBin, Henrik ROos is also a real life racing driver in the actual FIA GT series, in a Chrysler Viper GTS/R. CDN: How does the damage system work? There's any chance to repair the own car during the race? JR: Yes, you can do pit stops and choose to repair damages, refuel, change tires etc. Christian De Nisi: How many cars and tracks does GTR features? How many cars on the same track? Do you think a great number of cars simultaneously will affect the performances? JR: GTR will feature all tracks and cars from the season of FIA GT 2003, 56 cars on track at the same time is possible and is running smoothly on a good computer, of course you need good hardware, I am running 56 cars on one of our simulators here, the computer specs. are more of the average, but it has a good grapghics card, that´s all you need. CDN: We saw a video from the pc version of GTR, and it was really amazing. Tell us something about the graphic engine on the Xbox version. Is it only a conversion from the pc one? 60 or 30 frames per second? JR: Do not have the details on this just yet. CDN: What about the Carrier mode? How many hours does GTR offer in single player? JR: Hmm, that´s depending on how you drive, but you will get as much quality time in the game as you would get in the real championship if you go for the full championship. CDN: And about the multiplayer mode? There will be any support for Xbox Live! (downloadable contents or gaming online)? Are the same features of the single player mode included in the multiplayer too? JR: The online part of the PC version is strong, X-Box Live is defenetly something that will be featured fully for the X-Box version. CDN: When do you expect to release the pal version of GTR? Any future planning for other titles? JR: We do not know yet, but we are going full steam ahead. CDN: As usual, we would like to know your favourite game :) JR: In the racing genre I only use GTR, dont have time for anything else anyway ; )
